Shadow Visitors: A Minnesota Adventure premiered Labor Day weekend. A winner in the 2014 Knight Foundation St. Paul Arts Challenge, “Shadow Visitors” combines Indonesian shadow puppet tradition with an original Minnesota story. You’ll recognize familiar characters, geography, history, and situations, all in a context of fantasy and humor. Along with puppetry there will be live acting, dance episodes, and gamelan music woven throughout.
Sumunar Indonesian Music and Dance and Green T Productions are collaborating in this original “world premiere” presentation. You’re invited to come and bring family and friends of all ages. Como Dockside Pavilion is an ideal performance venue—in Indonesia the shadow plays are almost always outdoor events lasting all night, from dusk to dawn. However, we promise that “Shadow Visitors” will keep you no longer than 90 minutes.
